Carina Nigg

Doctoral scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology | Research assistant at the University of Bern

Carina Nigg studied Social Work and Sport Science and is doing her PhD in Sport Science. In doing so, she is investigating the influence of outdoor sports on health as well as the influence of the built environment on sports behaviour. Previously, she worked for several years in out-of-school youth education work and conducted seminars and workshops with children and young people in the field of education for sustainable development. As a passionate outdoor sportswoman, she explores the mountain world on foot, on her mountain bike, and on skis. She is concerned with how sport and physical activity could be practised and designed to contribute to solving social, ecological and economic challenges in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
