Younis Kamil Abdulsalam (born in 1984) is a graduate sports scientist (German Sport University Cologne) and has been conducting research at Vrije Universiteit Brussels since 2021 on football-based radicalisation prevention / the promotion of social cohesion. His work combines academic research, pedagogical practice and socio-political perspectives in sport.

His areas of focus lie in social sustainability in sport, particularly in the fields of participation, justice and inclusion. As Vice-President of the organisation ROOTS – Against Racism in Sports, he works on anti-racist and diversity-sensitive change processes in sport organisations, as well as on empowerment approaches for communities affected by racism. Another focus of his work is on awareness and sensitisation formats on racism and discrimination in sport.

In addition, within the framework of Sport for Development, he develops and supports sport-based personality development formats, including through his non-profit organisation YouMo!. In football, he works in particular on personality-centred player development, with the aim of systematically bringing together sporting development, mental wellbeing and psychosocial competences.
